Many of us with Inspire are being told we have to take the Star360 test but haven't looked into how it is related to anything. The Star360 test is educational software that is run buy Renaissance Place Learning- an educational software company. They create a variety of things like tests, test preps, quizzes for an incredibly wide range of books and a place for schools to access it all together. Most notably, all of these things allow the school to find various data points to measure your child's learning and assist educators as they create grades, classroom placement/scheduling, and predictors for future growth. How do I know this? Because when it first came out I went to their conferences as an educator. They sold us the ideas and we had to pilot it and then convince our district to purchase or not depending on our needs. Over the years their product base has grown like many companies and they have some pretty big connections. Here is a link to their website specifically for California. I personally don't take the Star360 too seriously because but it gives me a marker for where my son is with his math and language skills -with my assistance. 😉 I'd love to hear what everyone else discovers and thinks of this as many of our schools in CA are buying into this program and dictating our needs as we consume their products. It's often difficult to determine which came first-hand the need or the product. 🤔
Storytellers Forum
Welcome to my storytellers forum!
Before you read, please remember that writing is a sacred practice. In order to write, you first have to be willing to open up yourself up to an audience. This means there is a great level of vulnerability in the process. The writing process is not linear. Thoughts and feelings manifest themselves all at once. This forum is space for us all to try to place it in a logical order. This can be difficult and take many edits and adjustments within a conversation. Know that my work is one from the heart and not from an assumed professional expertise. My writing is based on my personal goals to share the voices that are usually not heard. Much of what I write can be seen as radical and aggressive by today's cultural standards. My mission with #teachlove is to share my words unfiltered, and often unedited, to help start conversations that will advocate for self-care and accepting differences to open up avenues in our communities so that everyone's story can be told.
